Equipment designated for use in these rooms may not be removed.6. Report malfunctioning equipment to engineering personnel immediately forrepair.7. Student productions are to occur Monday - Friday from 8:30 - 5:00, unlessapproval is granted by the faculty/staff supervisor, so that the supervisinginstructor can monitor them.D. Equipment for Special Projects1. Qualifying projects are University and TC Departmental Honors Theses, aswell as Independent Studies that require equipment resources.2. Theses proposals must be submitted to a faculty member for evaluation.3. Upon consultation with the Department Chair and departmental faculty, thefaculty advisor determines:a. Whether proposal fits guidelines for an Honors Thesis or an IndependentStudy.b. Whether the proposal is appropriate to encourage further academicdevelopment of the student.c. Whether the student will have reasonable access to the needed equipmentto complete the project without adversely affecting other departmentalcourses.4. If all the above criteria are met, the thesis proposal will be signed by thefaculty advisor and the appropriate equipment will be made available to thestudent.5. Independent Study proposals must be signed by the Dean as well as theDepartment Chair and faculty supervisor.NOTE: Both Departmental and University Honors Theses must meet the Springdeadline for submission as a Fall Project. Information regarding deadlines forsubmission of all proposals for honors theses must be obtained from the JCFAHonors Committee.Independent Study courses are traditionally research-oriented projects that result in apaper. On rare occasions a production project may be submitted as an IndependentStudy. Written research will be sumitted with the final production project.IV. Internship/In-training PoliciesA. Criteria for departmental Internships1. Senior ranking (determined by years or total credit hours).2. Successful completion of 25-30 hours in TC major.3. Completion of appropriate forms, found on TC website(http://www.butler.edu/telecom/) or in FC 118 and submission to facultyadvisor before internship is begun.4.
