3. Existing Programsa. Programs will be reviewed by the supervisory facultyand/or department chair at the end of each programming cycle.b. Decisions for continuation will be based on the following criteria.1) Does the program continue to fit the mission of WTBU and theTelecommunication Arts Department?2) Is there sufficient faculty, student, and staff support for continuedproduction?3) Is there sufficient financial as well as equipment resources?4. Discontinuing Programsa. If any of the questions related in (3,) above are answered negatively, thenthe show will be considered discontinued.b. Programs can only be revived by following the procedure described abovefor New Programs.5. Special Programsa. “One-time only” productions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis bythe Executive Producer.b. If the program is approved by the Executive Producer, it will be forwardedfor final approval by the General Manager.B. Operation Policies1. Every program or continuity element scheduled for air on WTBU must bedelivered to the Director of Operations by the student’s supervisor at WTBUor WFYI no later than 24 hours before air.2. Every program for air must have registered bars and 100% audio tones at thebeginning of the tape. If tone is not recorded on the tape, there is noguarantee of the program airing properly. Please remember that the stationstandard is 30 seconds of bars and tone followed by 15 seconds of slate, and15 seconds of black or countdown before each program. If you have anyquestions about how to set your audio and video levels to match your colorbars and tone, please ask your supervising staff or faculty member3. If the program does not meet technical standards or is not delivered prior todeadline, a back-up will be aired if available. If there is no back-up, theprogram will be replaced by Classic Arts Showcase or another replacement atthe discretion of the Program Director or Director of Operations.BEA—Educating tomorrow’s electronic media professionals 20
