GENERALE DELLA CONFINDUSTRIA DI PESARO E URBINO
Nell’ambito del nostro programma per la conoscenza delle
aree di concentrazione industriale mobiliera, ci siamo recati
a Pesaro ad intervistare l’Avv. Salvatore Giordano, Direttore
Generale della Confindustria di Pesaro.
Avv. Giordano, ci può descrivere
cosa è successo negli ultimi anni?
Il settore del Mobile, nella Provincia di
Pesaro Urbino, si è profondamente
modificato nel corso degli ultimi anni.
Alla crisi cronica del mercato italiano, a
fine 2008, si è aggiunta quella internazionale.
Ovviamente, a farne le spese,
sono state soprattutto le aziende più
piccole: quelle artigiane e quelle industriali
che non facevano dell’innovazione
e della ricerca della qualità i propri
punti di forza. Oggi, la crisi ci riconsegna
un settore profondamente modificato,
sia dal punto di vista quantitativo
(molte aziende sono scomparse) sia
da quello della qualità.
In questa situazione caotica, comunque,
hanno resistito tutti quei marchi che non hanno modificato
nel corso degli anni il proprio core business e che, a
differenza di altri, sono riusciti ad investire anche in una
situazione depressiva: investimenti in design, in ricerca, in
nuove forme di comunicazione.
Com’è l’attuale situazione del mercato?
L’industria manifatturiera, che caratterizza fortemente l'economia
della nostra provincia, realizza a livello nazionale circa
1/3 del Pil del Paese e assicura 8 milioni di posti di lavoro.
Circa l’80% delle esportazioni italiane è strettamente legato a
questo settore, grazie al quale si riescono a pagare le bollette
per l’approvvigionamento energetico, che è tra i più costosi
d’Europa. Il nostro sistema economico vive ormai da tempo
una delle crisi economiche più profonde che ha investito il
nostro sistema produttivo e, purtroppo, i segnali di miglioramento
sono ancora flebili. L’economia provinciale presenta,
infatti, un andamento schizofrenico: a periodi di ripresa succedono
velocemente situazioni di mancanza di commesse.

The Industrial Enterprises Association of Pesaro and Urbino
is a very important structure for market insight, promotion,
and local development. To gain some insight on the problem
areas we went to interview its Director General, Mr. Salvatore
Giordano, Attorney at Law, who kindly
responded to our questions:
What has happened in recent years?
The Furniture industry, in the Province
of Pesaro and Urbino, has experienced
tremendous change in recent
years. In addition to the chronic crisis
of the Italian market, the international
crisis hit in late 2008.
Obviously, it was mostly the smaller
companies who bore the brunt: those
small-scale and industrial businesses
that failed to make innovation and
quality their strong points.
Today, the crisis has handed back an
extremely different industry, both in
terms of quantity (many companies no
longer exist) and in terms of quality.
However, in this chaotic situation all the brands that over
the years did not make changes to their core business survived
and, unlike the others, were able to invest even in a
depressing situation: investments in design, research, new
forms of communication.
The current situation of the economic market?
The manufacturing industry, which strongly characterizes
the economy of our province, at a national level accounts
for about 1/3 of the country’s GDP and provides 8 million
jobs. About 80% of Italian exports are closely related to
this sector: thanks to which energy supply bills, which are
among the most expensive in Europe, can be paid.
Our economic system has long been experiencing one of
the hardest economic crisis to hit our production system
and, unfortunately, there are only faint signs of an upturn.
The Provincial economy has, in fact, a schizophrenic
trend: periods of recovery can quickly change into situations
with no orders. Our industry is still experiencing a
condition of suffering, although we mustn’t overlook the
