Quest’anno si svolge la Celebrazione del
100° Anniversario della Fabbrica Fagus
che è stata dichiarata dall’UNESCO
“Patrimonio dell’Umanità”.
Costruita nel 1911, la fabbrica è un
importante pezzo della storia dell’architettura
moderna.
L’Architetto Tedesco Walter Gropius
ha creato un classico dell’architettura,
a quei tempi rivoluzionario, facciate
semplici non adornate e gli interni
inondati di luce dove la caratteristica di
questa costruzione è la struttura di
acciaio e vetro. Questo sito è uno dei
35 in Germania che sono stati riconosciuti
e premiati con questo onore.
Originariamente la fabbrica produceva
forme per calzature in legno di faggio.
Il fondatore della Fagus, Carl Benscheidt,
che commissionò la costruzione è stato
un imprenditore con lungimiranza ed un
uomo con una missione sociale.
La sua visione di un ambiente piacevole
che incoraggerebbe l’alto livello di
precisione richiesto per la produzione
di forme per scarpe.
Questa positiva atmosfera è oggi
apprezzata dai dipendenti della Weinig
nel loro lavoro, tanto quanto i loro predecessori.
Carl Benscheidt ordinò il progetto al
giovane Architetto Walter Gropius, che
era relativamente conosciuto a quel
tempo e che con il suo lavoro ha creato
il suo primo capolavoro.
100 anni dopo la posa della prima pietra
dello stabilimento Fagus, la costruzione
sembra ancora moderna.
Ed ha successo, prodotti di alta precisione

This year in Alfeld/Hannover, the Fagus
Factory celebrate its 100 th Anniversary
and the classification being of UNE-
SCO world cultural heritage value.
Built in 1911, the factory is an important
piece of architecture history.
The German Architect Walter Gropius
created a classic of industrial architecture.
At that time revolutionary, unadorned
façades and interiors flooded with
light were the hallmarks of this construction
made of a steel skeleton and
glass. The Unesco has now declared
the Fagus plant a World Heritage Site.
This places it in a group of only 35
Germany sites which have been awarded
this honour to date. Originally the
Fagus plant produced shoe lasts
which gave rise to the name which
means beech in Latin. The founder of
the company, Carl Benscheidt, who
commissioned the building was an
entrepreneur with vision and a man
with a social mission. In his view, a
pleasant environment would encourage
the high level of precision required
to manufacture shoe lasts. This positive
atmosphere is appreciated by
Weinig employees in their work today
just as much as their predecessors.
Benscheidt commissioned a young
architect, Walter Gropius, who was
relatively unknown at that time, with
the work who then created his first
great masterpiece. 100 years after the
foundation stone was laid the Fagus
plant still seems modern. And successful,
high-precision products are still
designed and made there.
Undoubtedly an acknowledgement of
this epochal building which was declared
a listed building in 1946 and now is
a World Heritage Site.
