Dr. Wiedemann talked about the Value Added Approach and its application in practice. He graduated from HHL and the Glauchau University of Cooperative Education, earning his Diploma in Business Administration with majors in Finance and Marketing and a Diploma in Finance and Banking re- Matthias Tischner (K21) joined the WestLB Chair of Finance as a Research Associate in August 2008. KGaA, Carsten Knobel, held a guest lecture on “Portfolio Management and Investment Decisions – Henkel’s Acquisition of National Starch” as a part of the MBA’s Financial Management course. The lecture offered some crucial insights into the practical application of investment and financing concepts that were covered during the course. Lahmann joined the WestLB Chair of Finance as a Research Associate in September 2008. He graduated from the Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin), where he received his Diploma in Economics with majors in Finance, Mathematical Modeling and Public Fi- Management. Before joining HHL’s Diploma program, he completed his MBA in the USA. During his studies, he gained work experience in the financial services industry and in various companies. HHL NEWS – WINTER 2008/2009 25 ond part of the lecture was given by HHL alumnus Carsten Martens (K18), who talked about career opportunities at Henkel. Both presentations highlighted the links and similarities between Henkel’s and HHL’s profiles: an international focus, a long tradition, a personal atmosphere, dynamic and flexible people, and a concentration on quality and motivation. Henkel and HHL also share a common goal: to intensify the cooperation and partnership between them. Alexander Knauer gained work experience in the financial service industry in Munich, Frankfurt and Zurich with a focus on Pricing Theory, Risk Management, IT and Information Systems. However, he is not a new face. Mr. Arnold has been working at the Chair as a Research Assistant for one year already. nance.
