“Lekker Logistiek doen in <strong>Leipzig</strong>”<br />
Group <strong>of</strong> Dutch and German logistics experts at <strong>HHL</strong><br />
“Network Logistics <strong>Leipzig</strong>/Halle” was established<br />
as a registered association (e.V.) on<br />
September 11, 2008, with approximately<br />
twenty founder members, among them the<br />
City <strong>of</strong> <strong>Leipzig</strong>, the IHK zu <strong>Leipzig</strong> (<strong>Leipzig</strong><br />
Chamber <strong>of</strong> Industry and Commerce), the<br />
<strong>Leipzig</strong>/Halle Airport GmbH and DHL. The<br />
majority <strong>of</strong> the members are, however, local<br />
small and medium-sized enterprises. The<br />
aim <strong>of</strong> the network is to promote <strong>Leipzig</strong>/Halle<br />
as a logistics center and to improve both<br />

To achieve these goals, “Network<br />
Logistics <strong>Leipzig</strong>/Halle” cooperates<br />
with other logistics regions in<br />
Europe, for example in the Netherlands,<br />
which has one <strong>of</strong> the<br />
most dynamic logistics markets in<br />
the world. In this context, the network<br />
recently welcomed a delegation<br />
<strong>of</strong> fifteen Dutch companies<br />
representing different logistics and<br />
sub-contracting industries. The<br />
delegation’s visit was supported<br />
by the Netherlands Agency for International<br />
Business and Cooperation<br />
(EVD), the Brabant Chamber<br />
<strong>of</strong> Commerce, and the Netherlands Embassy<br />
in Germany.<br />
A special highlight was the round-table discussion<br />
at <strong>HHL</strong> as well as the joint visit to the<br />
laboratories <strong>of</strong> the Information Systems Institute<br />
at the University <strong>of</strong> <strong>Leipzig</strong>. Dutch and<br />
German logistics experts used this opportunity<br />
to exchange experiences in the field <strong>of</strong> IT<br />

University <strong>of</strong> <strong>Leipzig</strong>) presented their research<br />
on IT-application adoption in the logistics<br />
business. The Center for IT-based Logistics<br />
<strong>Leipzig</strong> (CITLOG), sponsored by the <strong>Leipzig</strong><br />
Foundation for Innovation and Technology<br />
Transfer, and the Logistics Service Bus (LSB)<br />
were also presented.<br />
The Dutch visit coincided with the grand<br />
opening <strong>of</strong> the Netherlands Business Support<br />
Office (NBSO) in <strong>Leipzig</strong> which assists<br />
Dutch companies looking to establish trade<br />
relations. The Netherlands maintains over<br />
twenty NBSOs worldwide; the <strong>of</strong>fice in <strong>Leipzig</strong><br />
is the second NBSO opened in Germany<br />
after Stuttgart.<br />
