Interim Pastor<br />
• Pray always.<br />
• Lead the congregation through the interim tasks.<br />
• Communicate with synod staff, especially submitting the quarterly reports.<br />
• Regularly remind the congregation that interims are not available for the regular call.<br />
• Refrain from influencing the interview process.<br />
• Participate in quarterly interim pastor meetings.<br />
Transition Team or <strong>Call</strong> Committee<br />
• Pray for wisdom and the guidance of the Holy Spirit through your work.<br />
• Work closely with the interim pastor on the interim tasks, especially as they relate to<br />
the developing the MSP.<br />
• Seek to engage a wide cross section of the congregation and community for the<br />
purpose of creating an accurate picture of the congregation.<br />
• Inform the Congregation President and your synod staff contact when the MSP is<br />
complete for review.<br />
• Participate in the MSP review meeting with synod staff, the <strong>Call</strong> Committee, the<br />
Congregation Council and other interested members.<br />
<strong>Call</strong> Committee<br />
• Pray for wisdom and the guidance of the Holy Spirit through your work.<br />
• Participate in the MSP review meeting with synod staff, the transition team, the<br />
Congregation Council and other interested members.<br />
• Participate in the <strong>Call</strong> Committee orientation with synod staff.<br />
• Commit to the <strong>Call</strong> Committee Covenant.<br />
• Utilize the spiritual resources provided in this document to help you to remember<br />
that you are not hiring an employee, but calling a pastor.<br />
• When in doubt call your synod staff contact person.<br />
• Recommend a candidate to the Congregation Council.<br />
• Explain to the congregation why you sense that this is the one that God has in mind<br />
for you at the congregational meeting to vote on the candidate.<br />
Meetings<br />
• The synod staff contact person meets with the transition team, <strong>Call</strong> Committee,<br />
Congregation Council, and other interested members to review the MSP and offer<br />
suggestions for improving the document.<br />
• At the same meeting the <strong>Call</strong> Committee stays longer to receive their orientation to<br />
preparing for interviewing potential candidates.<br />
• Congregation Council meeting or congregational meeting to adopt the MSP.<br />
• Congregational meeting to vote on the recommended candidate.<br />
