Locally Sponsored Mudcats
Compete in 2008 Fletcher World Series
The Columbia Mudcats recently participated in
the invitation only 2008 Fletcher World Series held
in Charleston, SC on July 4-12. They finished the
tournament 3-3-1. The Columbia Mudcats are a
14U USSSA baseball team with players from area
NE high schools. The Mudcats finished their 2008
regular season placing 1st in 6 of the 11 tournaments.
In Charleston, the Mudcats defeated the Goose
Creek Diamondbacks, who went on to win the World
Series, in an earlier preliminary round.

Georgia, Ohio, Goose Creek and Charleston, SC help

complete the 11 team series. Special recognition was
given in the individual competition to the Mudcats
centerfielder, Brandon Burris, who completed a trip
around the bases in 13.09 seconds. Brandon finished
1st of all the participants.
Team sponsors included Ben Satcher Ford,

local friends made contributions. The Columbia
Mudcats are coached by Billy Purvis, Fritz Lail, and

Soho Hero Meeting Center
Soho Hero in the Village at Sandhill has expanded its
business to now offer a meeting place for businesses,
churches or anyone needing a place to conduct business.
Soho Hero Meeting Center offers conference rooms to
seat 4-5 people or board rooms that seat 8-10 people.
Both rooms come with a meeting table, wireless internet,
a computer equipped for power point presentations and
a dry-erase board. The meeting center is also equipped
with a kitchenette in case you intend to have food at your
meeting. Free coffee is always available, even if you just
need to use one of the individual stations for WIFI.
Jay and Cheryl Wedeking opened Soho Hero in
December of 2005, and have built the business to what
it is now. Originally, the services available included
printing, shipping and supplies. Now the same services
are available, but with access to the meeting rooms as
well. The next time your organization or group needs to
