Names and a head count of all participants must be checked and recorded at the beginning and at<br />
the end of the excursion. Regular head counts must also be carried out during the excursion.<br />
Equipment<br />
Individual equipment for snorkelling:<br />

wet/dry suit including hood, boots and gloves (recommended)<br />
weight belt (if wet suit used) with a quick release buckle.<br />
Group equipment for snorkelling:<br />

a First Aid kit appropriate to snorkelling activities<br />
a diver’s flag (International Code Flag ‘A’)<br />
adequate safety devices such as float, life buoys and safety boat are required.<br />

air cylinder to Standards Association of Australia (AS 1777) specifications with current test<br />
stamp<br />
single hose regulator fitting with submersible pressure and depth gauges, and an Octopus<br />
Second Stage<br />
buoyancy compensator with scuba feed inflation device<br />
diver’s knife (optional)<br />
a watch/bottom timer per instructor<br />
for boat diving additional equipment is required<br />

Qualifications/Experience<br />

Minimum qualification for sheltered water – National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS)<br />
Level 1 (Ocean Snorkel Coach), or equivalent.<br />

Minimum qualifications – National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) Level 2 (Scuba<br />
Instructor), or equivalent.<br />
