“Shirley it is,” said the Eternal, amused by this interruption.
“Quiet Ryan, this sounds serious,” Church scolded him.
Granny Pearl continued.
“This Eternal told us that they feel that the planet can no longer sustain
the human race. Unless something is changed, humans will tear the
planet apart, destroying every form of life that Eternals created. It
would be a dead rock floating in space, leaving the afterlife stagnant.
This happened before on another planet, at a time inconceivable, even
by our perceptions of time. We Eternals formed our Earth, its creatures
and an afterlife. Earth is considered young for them and they will not
allow humankind to destroy all other life-forms...The human race must
change ... Or they will destroy them.”
The Eternal then spoke.
“Humans have no concept of time. Their lives centre on one lifetime.
Their History measured by several generations. Before, the planet kept
a status quo, but nowadays humans are belligerent, with the balance
tipped toward destruction. They unsuccessfully modify the life we
created on land, and the oceans are now sour and barren."
The Eternal paused while the information sank in, and then announced.
“Humans consider themselves an intelligent species, but as you will
learn; they are not. We have sent many warnings on the winds, but they
have not heeded them. We Eternals cannot change human nature...But
perhaps you can.”
The team looked astounded and confused.
“How?” Church asked.
