Through her e-design business, Cape
Town-based interior decorator Krystle
Williams is offering homeowners a novel
approach to home decorating. She
shares some of her favourite things

While completing her studies at Inscape Design
College, 29-year-old Krystle Williams identified
a gap in the local market for online decor advice.
“It’s a concept that makes a professional design
service so much more affordable for homeowners because it leaves
the project management up to them,” explains Krystle, who
named her new business Feather My Nest.
She charges a standard fee per room that includes a layout, a
presentation illustrating the colour scheme, furniture and fabric as
well as a shopping guide. At the start clients are asked to specify
a budget and what they envision for the space. “I also ask them
to e-mail through images or a Pinterest inspiration board to get a
clear understanding of what appeals to them in terms of style.” All
communication is done via e-mail, phone or Skype.
When this go-getter isn’t online, she keeps fit at gym and step
classes and enjoys the breathtaking scenery and restaurants that
the city has to offer.

HOLIDAY was a trip to New York (4). “There’s so much to see and
do, and the fast pace and energy of the city is electric. I’ve never felt
so inspired.”
FRAGRANCE is Jo Malone’s Peony & Blush Suede (5). “This is just the
most gorgeous floral scent. It makes me feel totally feminine.”
