Sara Burdon, her partner Bill Peet, her<br />
18-year-old son Joshua <strong>and</strong> their dogs Bella,<br />
a Labrador, <strong>and</strong> Lady, a cocker spaniel.<br />
The house<br />
A four-bedroom, double-storey home with<br />
a wraparound ver<strong>and</strong>a built on the footprint<br />
of a house dating back to the early 1900s.<br />

Estate while renting<br />
a house here,” says Sara Burdon, who<br />
moved to <strong>South</strong> <strong>Africa</strong> from the UK with<br />
her partner Bill Peet five years ago. The<br />
estate, situated in Modderfontein east<br />
of Jo’burg, incorporates 275 hectares of<br />
nature reserve <strong>and</strong> heritage buildings<br />
dating back to the late 1800s, when<br />
communities developed around the then<br />
newly built dynamite factory.<br />
When Sara <strong>and</strong> Bill saw this house,<br />
its old-world character <strong>and</strong> pretty treeshrouded<br />
setting immediately appealed<br />
to them. “Another drawcard was<br />
