A Daring Plan<br />
That very night, the disbelievers surrounded the house of<br />
the Holy Prophet sa , with the plan to attack him in the morning and<br />
kill him. The Holy Prophet sa asked his young cousin and devoted<br />
companion, <strong>Hadrat</strong> ‘Ali ra , to lie down in his bed and then wrapped<br />
his own cloak around him. The Holy Prophet sa assured him that no<br />
harm would come to him. Thus the Quraish assumed that the Holy<br />
Prophet sa was lying asleep in his bed. But in fact the Holy Prophet sa<br />
had left his house during the night, and had started his journey away<br />
from Makkah with <strong>Hadrat</strong> <strong>Abu</strong> <strong>Bakr</strong> ra . When the Quraish found<br />
<strong>Hadrat</strong> ‘Ali ra in the bed in the morning they realised that their plan<br />
had failed.
