The Treaty of
Hudaibiyah
In the sixth year after Hijrah, in the month of Dhul-
Qa‘dah, the Holy Prophet sa , along with fourteen hundred Muslims,
set out for Makkah to perform ‘Umrah. The Holy Prophet sa
had already announced that the Muslims were going to perform
‘Umrah, and that they did not want to fight the Makkans. For
this reason they wore their Ihram (special dress for performing
Hajj and ‘Umrah) and had brought along with them animals to
sacrifice. On the way there, the Holy Prophet sa learned that the
Makkans would not allow the Muslims to perform ‘Umrah,
and that if they tried to do so, the Makkans would fight them.
Hearing this, the Holy Prophet sa stopped at Hudaibiyah. Several
