Treat your<br />

feet<br />

Summer is finally on its way, time<br />

to give those forgotten feet an<br />

airing and after many months in<br />

boots and thick socks, or tights,<br />

they are no doubt feeling swollen,<br />

tight and extremely dry!!<br />

Why not give your feet a treat and try the<br />

wonderful benefits of either a Traditional Thai<br />

Foot Massage, or a Hot Stone Foot Massage,<br />

available at the self centre. You may well find<br />

yourself skipping out the door and looking<br />

forward to hunting those sandals out!!<br />

So what is a Traditional Thai Foot Massage?<br />

It is a unique therapy that combines acupressure,<br />

energy balancing and stretching with applied<br />

yoga exercises. Whereas most traditional western<br />

and eastern massage practises focus on tissue<br />

manipulation and the working of the muscles and<br />

joints, Thai massage barely touches on either of<br />

these. It is more a manipulation of the pressure<br />

points, energy lines, and basic body forces which<br />

together produce a highly therapeutic effect.<br />

Massage is applied to the lower legs and feet<br />

using thumbs and hands, together with work on<br />

acupressure points incorporating both reflexology<br />

techniques and a Thai wooden acupressure tool,<br />

heated booties and a natural aromatherapy balm<br />

are also used to enhance the treatment and<br />

soften the feet.<br />

Traditional Thai Foot Massage may be effective in<br />

relieving various dysfunctions and disorders; but<br />

it is also a wonderful treatment to promote overall<br />

health, increase energy and to provide a general<br />

sense of wellbeing.<br />
