The This Girl Can movement is<br />
encouraging women of all shapes,<br />
sizes and backgrounds to get<br />
out and get moving! With this in<br />
mind, let’s look at the barriers<br />
that women must overcome when<br />
starting to exercise.<br />
What do I wear?<br />
We’re all guilty of overthinking our wardrobe<br />
choices occasionally and exercise wear is no<br />
different. Trust me though, it’s not all lycra, crop<br />
tops and hideously expensive trainers. The only<br />
key is comfort. If you can move in it and feel<br />
comfortable, you should wear it (although no<br />
jeans!). At Abbeycroft Leisure, our classes and<br />
gym are filled with women all wearing whatever<br />
they feel good in.<br />
Everyone’s going to be looking<br />
at me.<br />
I’m sure you’re a stone cold fox but honestly?<br />
Most people are concentrating on their own<br />
workout. Yes, they may notice someone running<br />
next to them, but they certainly aren’t judging<br />
what you’re wearing or how fast you’re going.<br />
Emma Witcherly came along to Bury St Edmunds<br />
Leisure Centre having already lost five stone,<br />
but she still felt larger than other women. Emma<br />
says: “I was worried everyone would be looking<br />
at me and my comfy clothing, lycra isn’t made<br />
in my size. Once I started though, everyone was<br />
