BEGINNING ITALIAN NEW<br />

Italian is the language of art, classical architecture,<br />

Renaissa<strong>nce</strong> beauty, and opera – as well as fabulous<br />

food, full-bodied wines, fashion, and wonderful tourist<br />

destinations! Join us for this adva<strong>nce</strong>d beginning<br />

Italian class to further develop your language skills<br />

for travel, dining out, and for a window into another<br />

rich language and culture. Please note: this class<br />

is geared for students who have taken a prior class<br />

with Serena Grattarola, or have some introductory<br />

knowledge of the Italian language. We will continue<br />

to work on pronunciation, basic grammar and<br />

vocabulary, and simple conversations on a variety of<br />

topics, while also learning customs and aspects of the<br />

Italian culture – all in a fun, interactive environment.<br />

Suggested text: Prego! An Invitation to Italian, 8th<br />

edition textbook, by Graziana Lazzarino (McGraw-Hill,<br />

2012). Limited to 16.<br />

second language? Or, are you planning a trip to part<br />

of the Spanish-speaking world? If you answered yes<br />

to any of these questions, then this could be the class<br />

for you! We will learn everyday vocabulary and useful<br />

expressions and practice simple conversations in<br />

class. The emphasis will be on speaking and listening.<br />

We may even sing! Join us as we learn to speak<br />

Spanish in a fun, relaxed and supportive atmosphere.<br />

BEGINNING SPANISH – PART 2<br />

This class is a continuation of the Beginning Spanish<br />

class offered this past fall. We will continue to practice<br />

basic conversations and learn vocabulary useful<br />

for everyday situations and traveling in a Spanishspeaking<br />

country. Using Spanish for Dummies as a<br />

guide, more attention will be placed on the structure<br />

of the language as we build fluency. The goal of this<br />

class is to increase your confide<strong>nce</strong> as a Spanish<br />

speaker in a fun, relaxed, and supportive atmosphere!<br />

Prerequisite: A beginning Spanish class or a basic<br />

knowledge of Spanish, for example, familiarity with<br />

numbers, colors, time, weather, family, food and basic<br />
