AMERICA’S BOATING COURSE ®<br />
Great Blue Hill Sail and Power Squadron Members,<br />
Instructors<br />
Boating is a fabulous family activity, but you shouldn’t<br />
leave the dock without basic boating skills. Now is the<br />
time to prepare for the next boating season. Useful<br />
for paddlers, sailors, or those with powerboats, this<br />
course is meant for both captain and crew. Topics to<br />
be covered include boat handling, safety, federal and<br />
state requirements, aides to navigation, charts and<br />
course plotting, trailering, marine radio use, knots,<br />
personal watercraft use and more. Upon successful<br />
completion of the course, a certificate will be issued<br />
which is honored by all states for their basic licensing<br />
requirements, and most insura<strong>nce</strong> companies for<br />
premium reductions. Those between ages 12 and 16<br />
may obtain their Massachusetts Powerboat Operator’s<br />
certificate. If you are going to be on the water, let us<br />
show you how to do so with skill, confide<strong>nce</strong>, and fun!<br />

OUR STORIES<br />

Creative writing is one of the best ways to explore<br />
and record your life’s stories. It is a stimulating and<br />
fulfilling way to express yourself, and you’re never<br />
too young or too old to discover its wonders. In<br />
this class you will discover your own unique voice<br />
and bring out the storyteller that dwells in each of<br />
us. We will make use of different creative exercises<br />
to launch the writing process in a supportive, nonthreatening<br />
environment. Stretch your writing using<br />
helpful prompts such as mementos, photos and short<br />
meditations to help get you started (note for Anna’s<br />
former students – new prompts and exercises will be<br />
used in this class to further jumpstart your writing).<br />
This class is open to both new and experie<strong>nce</strong>d<br />
writers. Please bring a pen and notebook (or laptops)<br />
and a bag lunch. Limited to 12.<br />
