SHAKUR ABDUL-KHALLAQ has a BA in Psychology<br />
from Boston University. He taught in the Boston<br />
<strong>Public</strong> <strong>Schools</strong> for one year before joining the staff at<br />
<strong>Needham</strong> High School as METCO Coordinator, and<br />
has taught SAT Prep classes for <strong>Needham</strong> Community<br />
Education si<strong>nce</strong> the fall of 2008.<br />
DONALD ANDERSON has been working with college<br />
strategies si<strong>nce</strong> 1990 and has successfully guided his<br />
three children through the financial aid process. He<br />
received his BS in Engineering from Northeastern<br />
University and his MBA from Syracuse University. As a<br />
College Funding Advisors associate, Don now lectures<br />
extensively throughout the greater Boston area on the<br />
financial aid process.<br />
GEORGE BARDIS is the wine director at Martignetti<br />
Liquors in Brighton, MA. He has studied food and<br />
wine for many years, and has taught wine courses<br />
for several area <strong>adult</strong> education <strong>programs</strong>, including<br />
Brookline, Cambridge and <strong>Needham</strong>. He holds a BA<br />
from Washington State University.<br />
INGRID GOLDBLOOM BLOCH www.<br />
ingridgoldbloombloch.com is an artist who uses<br />
common objects in creative and unusual ways to<br />
create her art. Her pieces have been described as<br />
“innovative, ironic, and humorous.” Her works have<br />
been featured in museums and galleries throughout<br />
the United States, including two Bead International:<br />
Best in Contemporary Beadwork touring shows, the<br />
Fuller Craft Museum, and The Society for Arts and<br />
Crafts in Boston, and Ripley’s Believe It or Not! She<br />
has also been featured in a number of books and<br />
magazines, including 500 Beaded Objects, and Fiber<br />
Arts Magazine.<br />
J. SCOTT BRUMIT has been studying various forms<br />
of martial arts si<strong>nce</strong> 1983. He has studied and taught<br />
Kung-Fu, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and numerous weapon<br />
forms. He has performed as a martial artist in Sarah<br />
Caldwell’s production of Puccini’s Turandot for the<br />
Opera Company of Boston. Scott also has been<br />

performing, directing and producing opera throughout<br />
the U.S. for over 30 years, and currently serves as the<br />
General Director of <strong>Needham</strong>’s Longwood Opera.<br />
MATT CARROLL, along with his wife Jackie, owns the<br />
Medfield Wine Shoppe, established over 12 years ago.<br />
Before opening up his own shop, Matt worked selling<br />
wines throughout Massachusetts for wine suppliers<br />
and wholesalers. Matt and Jackie have focused on<br />
finding wines that over-delivered on price and quality,<br />
usually tasting between two and three thousand wines<br />
each year to make their selections.<br />
PAT CANAVAN has been a beekeeper for 5 years,<br />
and has mentored new beekeepers for the last two.<br />
He is a member of the Middlesex County Beekeepers<br />
Association and enjoys sharing the magical world of<br />
beekeeping with others.<br />
HSIU-HUI CHEN was born in Taipei, Taiwan. A native<br />
Mandarin speaker, Hsiu-Hui holds a BA in English from<br />
Fu-Jen University in Taiwan. She is a member of the<br />
Chinese Language Teachers Association, has taught<br />
Mandarin to <strong>adult</strong>s in various settings, and is currently<br />
working as a private Mandarin tutor. Hsiu-Hui is also a<br />
Nia certified instructor, and has taught in several area<br />
<strong>programs</strong>.<br />
MARILYN CRUICKSHANK, a <strong>Needham</strong> resident,<br />
is the owner of Creative Simplicity Professional<br />
Organizing, LLC, which provides an array of organizing<br />
services to individuals, families, and businesses in the<br />
Metrowest area. Marilyn is a member of the National<br />
Organization of Professional Organizers (NAPO).<br />
RICHARD DERBY, an elementary teacher for 27 years<br />
and also a <strong>Needham</strong> resident, began teaching paper<br />
folding in his classroom over 30 years ago. His love<br />
of modular origami years began when his daughter<br />
learned it from her math teacher at Pollard Middle<br />
School.<br />
