German wines? What
the heck is Pinot Meunier? To answer the
first, it’s because these wines are delicious
and incredible values. The second, Pinot
Meunier is a mutation of Pinot Noir. In
most cases, during a blind tasting you
could not tell the difference. It is 1 of the 3
grapes allowed to make Champagne, it
ripens earlier than Pinot Noir, it is not as
finicky of a grape to produce, and it
provides better yields. Darting’s wine
history dates back to 1780 and Helmut
Darting is known for his “minimal
intervention” techniques in his
winemaking. This beautiful wine opens up
with a delicate bouquet of ripe raspberries,
floral notes and spices. The palate is light
to medium bodied with juicy red and black
raspberries, cranberries, strawberries, cedar
spices and wisps of smoke. Mild acidity
and soft tannins make this a wine that you
