know why he says this. Jacob Schneider’s<br />
family has been involved in wine since<br />
1575 and presently owns some of <strong>the</strong> best<br />
vineyard sites in Nahe. The word<br />
“Feinherb,” loosely transl<strong>at</strong>es to “off dry”<br />
and is comparable to a Halbtrocken or<br />
semi-dry Riesling. The Kertz vineyard lies<br />
on very steep slopes th<strong>at</strong> consist of sl<strong>at</strong>e<br />
and porphyry soils th<strong>at</strong> produce wines of<br />
depth, charm and amazing minerality. The<br />
wine is simply gorgeous, displaying a<br />
delic<strong>at</strong>e bouquet of white floral notes,<br />
wisteria and verbena along with exotic<br />
spices and minerals. Flavors are juicy and<br />
clean, with a hint of Meyer lemon on <strong>the</strong><br />
core of ripe, white stone fruits. Adding<br />
complexity to <strong>the</strong> balanced and very<br />
moder<strong>at</strong>e sweetness is a mélange of<br />
minerals and spices th<strong>at</strong> dance playfully on<br />
your pal<strong>at</strong>e. Rieslings like this are a tre<strong>at</strong>,<br />
especially for <strong>the</strong> price, not too sweet or<br />
dry-a real crowd pleaser. This will<br />
complement a variety of cuisines: Indian,<br />
Sichuan, Cantonese, Austrian and German<br />
