B LIST
You’ve been hiding your body away for
the last six months, hibernating in a layer
of fuzz, but it’s time to start “summerising”,
which can only start with the dreaded
hair removal
Sometimes I think I’ve mastered silky legs, and then within minutes,
evil red bumps appear, or the in-grown hairs arrive a couple of days
later. If it’s a problem, I’ve had it! Here are some solutions I’ve
found along the way.
Threading - is great for eyebrows and the upper lip, or even
the whole face if you fancy it. Yes, it feels a bit strange having
someone come at your face with a bit of cotton in their mouth, but
it isn’t too painful, it works really well and it doesn’t bring my face up
in teeny little spots which can happen after waxing. Try a rose water
to soothe the skin afterwards.
Laser Hair Removal - I’ve tried laser hair removal, and
whilst it was great for me for about a year, it didn’t really last.
However, friends and celebrities have all had great success and
would swear it’s worth the money, so I shouldn’t knock it. The
learning is, research a good clinic and know that there is a huge
difference between laser and IPL, as well as differences in quality
when it comes to the many brands offering these treatments.
Waxing - Most of my friends absolutely swear by waxing, it’s
reasonably priced and if you find the perfect beautician for you,
she will be with you for life! Some of my friends drive miles for their
bikini wax! Whether you choose Brazilian, Hollywood or just plain
simple bikini, you’re guaranteed to have a much neater bikini line
than you could ever do yourself, and it’s quick. Invest in a great after
care product that will help any potential bumps think twice about
reappearing!
Shaving - My shaving secret tips - soak in a warm bath
beforehand to open the pores and soften the skin. Always use a
new razor and warm it under the tap first. Then lather in coconut
oil and away you go! Afterwards, apply Australian Tea Tree Body
Lotion to the area. Use a good exfoliator inbetween shaves - I
love Kiehl’s gentle exfoliating body scrub - and, for added brownie
points, body brush daily.
