In Japanese, fireflies are called hotaru, and just<br />

like cherry blossoms or the autumn’s changing<br />

leaves, they’re a seasonal occurrence you wouldn't<br />

want to miss. Although you can view the insects<br />

in their natural habitat in Tokyo, the city of Fussa<br />

actually breeds and releases its own Genji fireflies.<br />

These are some of the largest and most prominent<br />

Dragon Boat Races in the world with some 200<br />

local and international teams participating in the<br />

feel-good hybrid of EDM rave and trippy<br />

Marking its 10th year in <strong>2016</strong>, Luminato Festival<br />

celebrates the electrical vibrancy of an evolving<br />

of that energy: the Hearn Generating Station, a<br />

massive shrine to an industrial era now<br />

repurposed as a focal point of this citywide event.<br />

that encourages bug-eating as sustainable<br />

agriculture and as a nutrient-rich food.<br />
