Inspiration Driven by a vision to be "The Global Leader In Creating Airport Cities", Malaysia Airports' business plan ‘Runway to Success 2020 (RtS2020) will set the stage for the airports’ next phase of growth. Helmed by Managing Director of Malaysia Airports, Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, the prominent government-linked company (GLC) strives to become the global leader in creating airport cities in the coming years. But before we get into how the plan works, let us do a quick flashback at the past successes Malaysia Airports has enjoyed. Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (ISG) at the end of 2014. ISG is one of the world’s fastest-growing airports and has been Europe’s fastest-growing airport for the last several years. Given previous successes, the coming five years will see Malaysia Airports remain firmly focused in achieving its goal by first fulfilling its mission, which is to "Create Joyful Experiences by Connecting People and Businesses", and subsequently attaining its vision of becoming "The Global Leader in Creating Airport Cities". The Successes The conclusion of Malaysia Airports' previous five-year business plan in 2014 has seen Malaysia Airports grown to be one of the world’s largest private sector airport group in terms of number of passengers handled as well as one of the most successful GLCs in Malaysia managing 39 airports in Malaysia, with overseas investments in Turkey and India. Adding to their string of impressive achievements, its flagship airport and the nation’s premier gateway - KL International Airport (KLIA) is now one of the world’s top 25 busiest airports catering to more than 60 airlines, serving over 110 destinations and handling nearly 50 million passengers a year. KLIA also contributed to Malaysia Airports' streak of award-winning tradition, garnering accolades and recognition from various international aviation bodies. For instance, it won the Large Airport of the Year for Asia Pacific at the CAPA Awards for Excellence in 2014. Malaysia Airports’ expertise in airport operations and management is also recognised internationally. Since 1995, it has been involved in the management of a few overseas airports which include operations in India, Cambodia, Kazakhstan and Maldives. Their biggest achievement was the full acquisition of Istanbul’s second airport, The Istanbul 89
