Heywood and Rochdale Cancer Research Committee
were recently invited to a prestigious event in London
in recognition of their fundraising efforts. Between
them the two committees, which have recently
combined, have raised £100,000 which is a fantastic
achievement. Full details are to be found on page 42.
You may remember the article which local historian,
Gary Heywood-Everett, wrote on the Norden Riviera as
well as the Rochdale Pioneers of Workers Education.
Gary has kindly offered to write a regular ‘From the
Archives’ feature in our magazines and this month has
included a fascinating piece on the Carlton Ballroom
which was such a well know landmark in the town
back in the 30’s and 40’s.
