in comparison to our colleagues from the
world, who did not have such problems and
were able to have a smooth training process
any time of year.
Ater all this, it can be said that the Serbian
athletics has gained a high rating also
internationally.
– The results of our athletes have shown
that a serious work is being done in Serbia.
The improved infrastructure has shown
that this was a planned activity, and the European
and World Federation were able to
recognize and support this. They were our
frequent guests, and we were also visited
by the presidents of these organizations.
We have also excelled as good organizers
of professionals and conventions, as well
as the European Championships in cross
country in 2013, which was rated as the
most successful so far.
Of course, none of this would have been
possible without the support of the Government
of Serbia and the Ministry of Youth
and Sports. The Ministry of Defense had the
decisive contribution in the building of the
athletic hall. If it had not been for their help,
all this would have stopped halfway.
TESTS FOR DARING HOPES
All the objectives set so far have been
achieved. However, new challenges are ahead.
– First of all, it is our wish to popularize
athletics and show to young people how
attractive and diverse it is, incomparable
with other sports. The European Championships,
which we will organize next year
in the new hall will probably help us with
this. We have already invested heavily in
this project, together with the state authorities,
as well as great physical and creative
efforts. It will be a real test of many of our
ambition and daring hopes.
We already know that we will transfer
to Kragujevac the running track, which we
will buy and mount in the “Arena” for the
purpose of the championship, after its end.
There, we will help build the athletic hall
and so, in a short time, we will get another.
It will be available to athletes from that part
of Serbia.
Because everything we have launched
and achieved, we have entered into negotiations
for obtaining the organization of
the World Indoor Championships 2020. We
sincerely hope that the relevant structures
of the World Federation will recognize our
energy. s

– Infrastructure projects in athletics are of general national
interest. The construction of athletic stadiums will enable the
broadest range of young people to engage in athletics, completely
free of charge, which is an exception to all other sports.
Thanks to these facilities, the largest number of boys and girls
will master the first lessons in physical culture and maybe acquire
the first affection for the sport.
