She sang in one hundred twenty prestigious world theaters, played over seventy roles in operas. She was
partner to Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Jose Cura... She won numerous awards and recognitions in
all parts of the world. However, she says she knows that the meaning of her life is to embed the gits she
carries within into the genuine cultural advancement of Serbian people and its lands

Her name has been written in
golden letters of supreme art for
thirty-six years already. Born in
Belgrade, she gained two university diplomas
in her home city: department of
theory and department of solo singing of
the Academy of Music. She later gained
her master degree in the same place. Her
international career began in the Milan
“La Scala”, in Carmen and Andrea Chénier
operas, with conductors C. Abbado and R.
Chailly. She played the leading role in the
same theater in L. Rossi’s Orpheus, at this
opera’s first international performance.
Cooperating with great opera singers, she
sang in 120 prestigious theaters around
the world, and played more than 70 opera
roles. Her voice echoed in “Carnegie Hall”,
“Kennedy Center”, “Glenn Gould Studio”,
“Bedzich Smetana”, “Mozarteum”, “Gulbenkian”
halls... She was awarded with the
Special Decree of the Russian Ministry of
Culture for her project Pushkiniana. She
brought many rare pieces to Belgrade and
presented them to her people, and promoted
Serbian music all around the world.
You were a guest at the famous Domingo’s
concert in Belgrade “Arena” in the previous
season, and now you are being awarded
with “Exceptional Vuk’s Award”, for the
exceptional contribution to the development
of culture in Serbian and all-Serbian
cultural area. How do you feel about it?
