P A N O R A M A News Stream >> In the first four months of this year, Serbia was visited by 718,750 tourists, which is 15 percent more than in the same period last year, announced at the end of May the Tourist Organization of Serbia. Of these, there were 412,386 domestic tourists (14 percent more than last year), and 306,364 foreign tourists (15 percent). By the number of overnight stays, domestic guests mostly stayed in the mountains (49 per cent) and spa resorts (26 percent), while foreign guests stayed in Belgrade (53 percent) and in mountain resorts (15 percent). >> Promotional tour of the Tourist Organization of Belgrade started on 27 May with a program in Timisoara. Belgrade Festival of Poetry More than forty participants from nine countries attended the Tenth Belgrade Festival of Poetry and Books “Snap out of it! Poetry!”, which took place from 25 to 30 May, in several interesting locations in the Serbian capital. From the memory of Vasko Popa (1922-1991) under the slogan Far Away, in Us, to the final Eating Poetry, from Roman Hall of the City Library and the Faculty of Philology to Mladenovac, from Stevan Tontić and Alvina Panga to Roman Honet and Andrej Ljupka, yet another living focal point of poetry was created. This production won the awards for best production and best directing, dramatic text (Dejan Dukovski) and set design (Tadžiser Sevindž and Saša Senković). Best actor award went to Branko Vidaković as Momcilo Jabučilo, and best actress was Nada Šargin as Zora Šišarka, both in the production of Coffee White of the National Theatre in Belgrade. The best costumes award went to Marina Vukasović Medenica. >> With the installation Heroik: “Freeshiping”, authored by young architects Ana Šulkić, Stefan Vasić and Igor Sjeverac, Serbia will be presented at the fifteenth Architecture Biennale in Venice. From 28 May to 27 November, sixtyfour countries will participate at the Biennale. The budget for the participation of Serbia is 20 million dinars, and the national pavilion was renovated this year. >> Award for contemporary music “Ernst von Siemens Music Prize” was awarded this year to Serbian composer Milica Đorđević. It was presented recently in Prince-Regent Theatre in Munich. >> On the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the release of the first book of Serbian writer and poet Dragan Lakićević (Between us, Winter, Matica srpska, 1976), the publishing house “Partenon” from Belgrade published a selection of his poems entitled The Poet of Snow. About forty poems dominated by the motif of snow were selected by Dr. Aleksandra Žeželj Kocić who also wrote the preface. >> Anthology Prayers of Saint Sava. Prayers to Saint Sava by Jovan Pejčić was presented on May 10 at the House of Đura Jakšić in Belgrade.
