Sundae Saturday
Warm but overcast, the odd droplet
of rain couldn’t stop the enjoyment of
Sundae Saturday at 16 Ryland Road on
16th July. There was a delightfully wide
range of gift and cake stalls as well as
tombola, face painting and guessing the
calories in a chocolate cake which the
latter promised to put 1,000 calories on
me just by looking at it. And when one
had finished browsing all the stalls there
was still time for a refreshing tea or some
cooling ice-cream.
The afternoon was organised by Linda
and Peter McCree assisted by their
friends at the Methodist Church and was
in aid of Action for Children, a children’s
charity committed to helping the most
vulnerable and neglected children and
young people so they can achieve their
full potential.
The ‘calorie cake’ was declared to
contain 12,953 calories and the prize for
guessing was won by Alun Evans. The

event raised £624, so thanks go to all
who helped and supported such a very
worthwhile cause.
