Hi there, to our webfooted,<br />
soggy-bottomed<br />
friends. You know, we<br />
haven’t heard much<br />
bleating about a water<br />
shortage this year, or even a rebate from<br />
the water boards! Funny, water comes<br />
up from the ground, or down from the<br />
heavens, as it did 80 plus years ago to my<br />
knowledge, but now it costs a devil of a<br />
sight more to fill your kettle than it did<br />
all those years ago. OK, so we had<br />
typhoid, cholera, mild and bitter,<br />
dandelion and burdock, sarsaparilla, but<br />
no Anglian Water or Severn Water<br />
creaming it off. Don’t you feel better for<br />
a good rant?<br />
On Tuesday 2nd August we are holding<br />
an evening of mediumship. This is always<br />
a popular event; entry is by ticket only<br />
from Marilyn on 862411.<br />
On Wednesday 3rd August there is a<br />
strong possibility of a challenge darts<br />
match between the gents and the ladies.<br />
No quarter will be given and no prisoners<br />
taken!<br />
We are holding a barbecue evening on<br />
Saturday 13th August ; 4pm for 5pm.<br />
The cost is £2 for members and £3<br />
for non-members; please show your<br />

funding raised £502; well done Marilyn<br />
and Marian. Our next coffee morning will<br />
be on Friday 2nd September when goods<br />
for re-sale and raffle prizes will be much<br />

The coach trip to Skegness is very slow<br />
in attracting customers. Please ring Hilda<br />
on 01522 244094 if interested; cost is<br />
£11 for members, £12 for non-members.<br />
We have only a few seats left for the river<br />
Trent cruise, which includes lunch, on<br />
Saturday 20th August; the cost is £30 for<br />
members and £31 for non-members.<br />
We have one seat left for the Thursford<br />
Spectacular on Thursday 10th November.<br />
The time is rapidly approaching when I<br />
need payment for the tickets (£50 each,<br />
inclusive). I need to receive the money<br />
before 10th August to pay Thursford<br />
by the end of the month, and they don’t<br />
muck about. Cheques should be payable<br />
to ‘Stonecliff Park Social Club’ or cash<br />
(folding money!) to reach Derek at 149<br />
