Welcome to London 2016!<br />

Te European Respiratory Society will come<br />

to London for the frst time in 2016 to host the<br />

world’s largest and most infuential meeting for<br />

respiratory physicians, scientists and allied health<br />

professionals. London is a ftting choice for the 26th<br />

ERS International Congress.<br />

Hosted in our home city of London, the Congress<br />

will be located in one of the best connected cities<br />

in Europe, boasting a proud history of scientifc<br />

innovation and medical discoveries. Many of the<br />

world’s most famous innovative thinkers have<br />

lived and worked in London including Sir Tim<br />

Berners-Lee, the inventor of the world-wide-web,<br />

Sir Alexander Fleming who discovered penicillin<br />

and many famous chest physicians.<br />

Te Congress scientifc programme will present<br />

the best in science and educational sessions from<br />

distinguished researchers from across the globe.<br />

Covering key topics in respiratory medicine from<br />

across the spectrum of disease areas including TB,<br />

lung cancer, pneumonia, cystic fbrosis, COPD, and<br />

asthma, the Congress is the best place to build skills<br />

and knowledge through hearing the latest topics<br />

in the feld. Te Congress venue, ExCeL London,<br />

is located on the banks of the River Tames in<br />

the bustling East London, the location of the 2012<br />

Olympic Games.<br />

It is the perfect site to explore many of London’s<br />

famous landmarks when there is space in between<br />

busy congress schedules. Travel around London is<br />

very easy with the extensive underground system,<br />

Docklands Light Railway and buses. We look<br />

forward to welcoming you to the ERS International<br />

Congress where we will continue our mission<br />

to promote lung health and drive standards in<br />

respiratory medicine.<br />
