Die C Series – das neue Kurzund
Mittelstreckenflugzeug
von SWISS – setzt dank innovativen
Technologien in den Bereichen
Triebwerke, Systeme und
Materialien neue Massstäbe in
Sachen Wirtschaftlichkeit und
Umweltverträglichkeit.
Ab Mitte Juli ist SWISS Erstbetreiberin des innovativen
neuen Flugzeugtyps C Series von
Bombardier. Neuste Technologien, kombiniert mit
innovativem Design, ermöglichen eine signifikante
Reduzierung des Treibstoffverbrauchs sowie
der Schadstoff- und Lärmemissionen. Ausschlaggebende
Faktoren für die Reduktion der Emissionen
sind die neu entwickelten Triebwerke von Pratt &
Whitney, die optimierte Aerodynamik und eine
Gewichteinsparung dank Leichtbauweise. Dies
alles macht die C Series zum ökologischsten
Flugzeug ihrer Klasse.
Halb so laut
Die C Series ist für das menschliche Ohr halb
so laut wie vergleichbare andere Flugzeuge. Hier
leistet SWISS mit den neuen Maschinen einen
wichtigen Beitrag zur Lebensqualität der Anwohner
im Flughafenbereich. Nach Abschluss der Einflottung
des neuen Kurzstreckenflugzeugs werden
etwa ein Drittel aller SWISS Landungen und Starts
in Zürich mit der leiseren C Series stattfinden.
Verbesserte Umweltbilanz
Der Treibstoffverbrauch der C Series ist (pro
100 Passagierkilometer) gegenüber einem vergleich
baren anderen Flugzeug um bis zu ein Viertel
geringer. Der CO₂-Ausstoss reduziert sich im
Vergleich zum Vorgängermodell Avro RJ 100 um
rund 90 000 Tonnen pro Jahr. Dies entspricht
CO₂-Emissionen von rund 7000 Flügen zwischen
Zürich und London City. Dank tieferen Verbrennungstemperaturen
in den Turbinen stösst
die C Series zudem bis zu 50 Prozent weniger
Stickoxid aus.
Eine der jüngsten Europaflotten
Insgesamt hat SWISS 30 C Series auf der Bestellliste.
15 davon für den Typ CS100 und 15 für das um
4 Meter längere Modell CS300. Nach Abschluss
der Einflottung 2018 wird SWISS eine der jüngsten
Europaflotten betreiben.

SWISS will be the first airline in the world to put the
innovative new Bombardier C Series into commercial
operation when its first CS100 enters revenue
service in mid-July. With its state-of-the-art technologies
and its innovative design, the all-new
twin-jet achieves significant reductions in both fuel
consumption and pollutant and noise emissions.
Many of these improvements are down to the
aircraft’s newly developed Pratt & Whitney geared
turbofan engines, its optimised aerodynamics
and the substantial weight savings that have been
achieved through the use of composites in its
con struction. All of which makes the C Series the
most ecological aircraft of its kind.
Half as loud
The C Series is only half as loud as comparable
aircraft to the human ear. And here, SWISS is
making a huge contribution to the quality of life
of local airport residents. Because once all its
C Series aircraft have been delivered and put into
service, the type will account for around a third
of all SWISS landings and departures at Zurich
Airport.
Better eco-credentials
The C Series also consumes up to 25 per cent less
fuel per 100 passenger kilometres than comparable
aircraft types. And this in turn helps it emit up
to 90,000 tonnes less carbon dioxide a year than the
Avro RJ100, the type it will replace in the SWISS
fleet. That’s the equivalent of the CO₂ emitted by
around 7,000 flights between Zurich and London
City Airport. Plus: thanks to the lower combustion
temperatures in its engines’ turbine sections,
the C Series also achieves a reduction of up to
50 per cent in its nitrogen oxide emissions.
One of the youngest
European fleets
SWISS has ordered a total of thirty Bombardier C
Series aircraft: fifteen CS100s, and fifteen of the
four- metres-longer CS300. The new arrivals mean
that by 2018 SWISS will be oper ating one of the
youngest European fleets.
