Limitations<br />

The following limitations apply to Physical Therapy services:<br />

One hour of billed therapy service must include a minimum of 45 minutes of direct patient care,<br />

with the balance of the hour spent in related patient services.<br />

Activities Not Allowed<br />

The following activities are not allowed under Physical Therapy services:<br />

Therapy services furnished to the participant within the educational/school setting or as a<br />

component of the participant’s school day<br />

Activities delivered in a nursing facility<br />

Services available through the Medicaid State Plan (a Medicaid State Plan prior authorization denial is<br />

required before reimbursement is available through the waiver for this service)<br />

Section 10.22: Prevocational Services<br />

Service Definition<br />

Prevocational Services are services that prepare a participant for paid or unpaid employment. Prevocational<br />

Services include teaching concepts such as compliance, attendance, task completion, problem-solving, and<br />

safety. Services are not job-task oriented, but instead, aimed at generalized results. Services are habilitative<br />

in nature and not explicit employment objectives.<br />

Reimbursable Activities<br />

Reimbursable activities under Prevocational Services include the following:<br />

Monitoring, training, education, demonstration, or support provided to assist with the acquisition<br />

and retention of skills in the following areas:<br />

Paid and unpaid training compensated at less than 50% of the federal minimum wage<br />

Generalized and transferrable employment skills acquisition<br />

These activities may be provided using off-site enclave or mobile community work crew models.<br />

Until the June 30, 2015, end of Supported Employment Follow-Along (SEFA), participants could<br />

choose to utilize SEFA Services and Prevocational Services during the same service plan year<br />

Service Standards<br />

The following service standards apply to Prevocational Services:<br />

Prevocational Services must be reflected in the ISP.<br />

All Prevocational Services will be reflected in the participant’s plan of care as directed to habilitative<br />

rather than explicit employment objectives.<br />
