<strong>INCAE</strong> and Cayuga Hotels researched the potential<br />
impact of tourism on sustainable development in<br />
Costa Rica, and made recommendations on how to<br />
further research this topic and other challenges faced<br />
by the tourism sector. The results of the study were<br />
presented at the “Planet, People and Peace Forum,”<br />
organized by the Chamber for Sustainable Tourism.<br />

analysis of the direct and indirect economic and social<br />
impacts of the agro-industrial sugar cane production<br />
system in Costa Rica, as well as other societal benefits<br />

This study analyzes the impact of Costa Rican policies<br />
supporting sustainable tourism-particularly the<br />
Certification for Sustainable Tourism (CST) provided by the<br />
Costa Rican Board of Tourism (Instituto Costarricense de<br />
Turismo, or ICT) for the innovation of services, processes,<br />
marketing and operation of hotel companies across the<br />
country. It also researches the causes and motivations<br />
for these companies to make changes and introduce new<br />
elements.<br />
