INVERLOCHY CASTLE
Built in 1863 by the first Lord Abinger,
Inverlochy remained a private residence
until1969 when it was converted from a
family home to a luxury country house hotel.
ln September 1873, during a trip to
Balmoral, Queen Victoria spent a week at
Inverlochy sketching and painting where she
wrote in her diaries "I never saw a lovelier or
more romantic spot".
The frescoed ceiling of the Great Hall,
Venetian crystal chandeliers and the
understated elegance of the drawing room
reflect the relaxed and tranquil atmosphere of
a bygone era. Dinner is an experience to
savour in any of the three dining rooms, each
decorated with period and elaborate
furniture presented as gifts to Inverlochy
Castle from the King of Norway. The menu
features modern British cuisine, internationally
recognised by all major guides.
At Inverlochy, weddings are their forte.
Everything can be arranged for the happy
couple, providing the most exclusive and
romantic wedding in the Highlands of
Scotland. Inverlochy can organise the
minister, photographer, reception flowers,
the cake, wedding cars, a Highland Piper and
even a spectacular firework display.
Each of the 17 palatial bedrooms have their
own individual design and character with
splendid views of the grounds and surrounding
mountains.
KINLOCH LODGE
Kinloch Lodge is set in one of Scotland's most stunning island
destinations, the Isle of Skye. Established in 1973 by Lord Godfrey
and Lady Claire Macdonald (Scotland's best known cook and cookery
writer), the old hunting lodge dating from the 16th century still plays
on its Scottish heritage and elegantly fuses old and new in both its
atmosphere and style. Throughout the hotel original features, antiques
and family heirlooms are cleverly blended with modern tartans,
colours and textures chosen to reflect Skye's distinctive landscape.
The award-wining hotel possesses all the charms of an easy Highland
getaway, making it the perfect place to unwind either in front of a
roaring log fire or with a relaxing spa treatment. Outside the hotel
guests find the tranquil shoreline of the sea loch Na Dal in Sleat,
perfect for country walks, outdoor pursuits and enjoying the island's
unspoilt beauty. Food is also high on the agenda at Kinloch Lodge,
with its restaurant holding one of Scotland's most remote Michelin
Stars. Skye is a true chef's paradise and Marcello Tully and his team
consistently serve up delicious tasting menus and a daily changing
table d'hote menu offering guests all the tastes of Skye's natural and
delicious larder. Marcello Tully now offers visitors the chance to work
alongside him during the morning. Guests see and learn how a
Michelin star kitchen operates, create dishes and at the end of the
morning enjoy the fruits of their labour with a 4-course lunch.
