The Great Little Trains of Wales are a very special way of seeing some of the<br />
best scenery in the British Isles. All are narrow gauge railways with some<br />
over 100 years old.<br />
DAY 1: Morning collection from your home to join<br />
the coach for the drive to Wales and our hotel in<br />
Caernarfon by early evening. Time to unpack and<br />
settle into your rooms before enjoying your<br />
evening meal.<br />
DAY 2: Our first visit today takes us to the shores or<br />
Cardigan Bay and Portmeirion. We visit this unique<br />
attraction, setting for the cult TV series ‘The<br />
Prisoner’. From here we drive to Betws-y-Coed<br />
where we have time to explore and obtain lunch (not<br />
included). This afternoon we head for Bala and enjoy<br />
a ride on the diminutive Bala Lake Railway.<br />
DAY 3: This morning we travel to the village of<br />
Llanberis, in the shadow of Mount Snowdon. Here<br />
we join the Llanberis Lake Railway for a delightful<br />
ride along the lake shore. This afternoon we take a<br />
‘Majestic Mountain Adventure’ and have a ride on<br />
the Snowdon Mountain Railway. This world famous<br />
little train takes you on a breath taking ride to the<br />
top of Snowdon, at 3560 ft (1085m) the highest<br />
mountain in England and Wales.<br />
DAY 4: We begin with a ride along the coast road<br />
past Conwy, with its mighty castle, to Llandudno.<br />
We join the train for a delightful ride along the<br />
Vale of Conwy to Blaenau Ffestiniog. Here we<br />
catch the Ffestiniog Railway for an exhilarating ride<br />
across the mountains, descending to the sea at<br />
Porthmadog. We have time to obtain lunch in<br />
Porthmadog (not included) before catching the<br />
Welsh Highland Railway train which takes us through<br />
Beddgelert and all the way back to Caernarfon.<br />
DAY 5: Departing our hotel after breakfast,<br />
we commence our return journey<br />
to East Anglia, arriving<br />
home mid evening.<br />

Discovering Shropshire<br />
Along the upper reaches of the River Severn and the borders between<br />
England and Wales, the countryside of Shropshire shelters some of the<br />
most beautiful landscapes and unspoilt towns that you can imagine.<br />
DAY 1: Morning collection from your home to join<br />
the coach for the drive to Shropshire, breaking our<br />
journey in the historic city of Lichfield. We continue<br />
to our hotel on the outskirts of Telford with tea and<br />
biscuits being served on arrival.<br />
DAY 2: Our day begins with a drive down the<br />
picturesque Wenlock Edge, off the beaten track<br />
towards Ludlow, a medieval town with a Norman<br />
Castle at the top of the town square.<br />
DAY 3: Today it is Shrewsbury that catches our<br />
attention, packed with timber framed black and<br />
white buildings amongst narrow alleyways<br />
surrounded by the River Severn. Here we enjoy a<br />
cruise on the River Severn and afterwards we have<br />
time to explore and obtain lunch (not included)<br />
before our afternoon visit to nearby Attingham Park.<br />

This stunning stately home was built in 1785 and was in<br />
continuous ownership by the same family for 160 years.<br />
DAY 4: This morning we head south to Bridgnorth.<br />
Here we join the famous Severn Valley Railway for a<br />
delightful ride along the beautiful Severn Valley, passing<br />
through lovingly restored stations on the way to<br />
Kidderminster. From here we head for the impressive<br />
Ironbridge Gorge where the world’s first iron bridge<br />
forms the centre of this World Heritage Site. Here we<br />
visit Blists Hill and the Victorian Town where we can<br />
explore the site with its many different attractions as<br />
we see what life was like at this time.<br />
DAY 5: We return home today travelling via Warwick.<br />
Later we continue our journey arriving<br />
back in East Anglia mid evening<br />
where our door to door service<br />
will take you to your home.<br />
