Crystal Waters of the Austrian Lake District
We are delighted to offer this holiday to St. Wolfgang on the shores of
charming Lake Wolfgansee. As well as touring the Salzkammergut Lakes, or
as it has become better known ‘Sound of Music Country’, we also include a
guided tour of Salzburg, a cruise on Wolfgangsee and a spectacular ride on
the Schafbergbahn cog railway.
DAY 1: Morning collection from your home to join
our coach for the drive to Folkestone, where we
board a morning Eurotunnel to Calais. We continue
through France to our overnight hotel in Metz
arriving in time for evening meal.
DAY 2: We continue our journey through France,
Germany and into Austria arriving at our hotel in
St. Wolfgang in time for welcome drink followed
by evening meal.
DAY 3: After a leisurely breakfast we head into the
mountains to the elegant town of Bad Ischl, summer
quarters of Emperor Franz Josef. We continue our
journey making a lunchtime visit to Hallstatt, possibly
the most picturesque village in Austria, where the
narrow cobblestone streets drop precipitously
towards the banks of Lake Hallstatt.
DAY 4: After breakfast, we depart for a lovely tour
around the Lake District. We head first for Mondsee
with time to visit the church where Captain Von
Trapp and Maria were married in the film the ‘Sound
of Music’. We then journey along the shores of
Attersee and Traunsee to Gmunden with time to
obtain a late lunch. We return to St. Wolfgang
late afternoon.
DAY 5: Today we have an excursion to Mozart’s city
of Salzburg, a beautiful city immortalized in the film
the ‘Sound of Music’. We have an included guided
walking tour of the city followed by a free
afternoon. Recommended is a ride up the little
funicular railway to Hohensalzburg Fortress offering
superb views across the city (cost not included).
We return to our hotel late afternoon with
time to freshen up before dinner.
DAY 6: An unforgettable day as we board the
diesel hauled Schafbergbahn cog railway to the
Schafberg summit. There will be time to enjoy one
of the most beautiful mountain views in the world
famous Salzkammergut region before the descent
back to St. Wolfgang. We have time to explore the
village which is home to the famous White Horse Inn
before enjoying a relaxing cruise around the lake.

Hotel Försterhof, St Wolfgang (5 Nights)
This charming 4 star standard hotel is located on the
shores of Lake Wolfgang, only a short walk from the heart
of the village. Bedrooms are comfortably furnished in a
traditional Austrian Style, with TV, hairdryer and many have
a balcony or terrace. The hotel offers large public areas,
dining area and a pleasant bar, along with a sauna and
relaxation area in which to unwind. The hotel has a lift.

DAY 7: We bid farewell to our hosts after breakfast
and commence our return journey to our overnight
hotel near Saarbrücken for dinner, overnight
accommodation and breakfast.
DAY 8: We continue our homeward journey to Calais
for a late afternoon Eurotunnel transfer to Folkestone
with a mid evening return to East Anglia where our
door to door service will be waiting to return you to
your home.
