& the Hollow Mountain
Back by popular demand, we are pleased to repeat this tour based in the village
of Crianlarich in Central Scotland. We feature a journey on the West Highland
Railway Line to Oban, as well as a sightseeing excursion around Perthshire with
a visit to the Glenturret Distillery and the chance to discover one of the hidden
wonders of the Highlands!
DAY 1: Morning collection from home to join our
coach for the drive north arriving at our overnight
hotel in time for evening meal.
DAY 2: We continue into Southern Scotland and make
our way along the shore of Loch Lomond to Crianlarich,
arriving late afternoon for a stay of 4 nights.
DAY 3: This morning we join the Scotrail train at
Crianlarich station for the ride to Oban. The line takes
us through the Pass of Brander and alongside Loch
Etive. In Oban we have time to explore the town. Later
this afternoon we take the train back to Crianlarich.
DAY 4: Today we join a local coach and head along
Glen Dochart to Killin, with the falls of Dochart
rushing through the village. From here we drive along
Loch Tay to Aberfeldy, where we have our lunch break.
Later, we head south along the Sma’ Glen to Crieff
where we include a visit to the Glenturret Distillery,
makers of the Famous Grouse for a tour and a wee
dram. Our return takes us along Loch Earn and Glen
Ogle to Crianlarich.
DAY 5: Today we discover one of the hidden wonders
of the highlands. A power station buried deep under
Ben Cruachan – the hollow mountain. At its centre lies
a massive cavern, high enough to house the Tower of

The Crianlarich Hotel, Crianlarich (4 Nights)
The 3 star standard Crianlarich Hotel stands in the
village of the same name on the fringe of the beautiful
Breadalbane region of Perthshire. All bedrooms are en suite

London. The hollow mountain is unique,
an underground world on a spectacular scale, a five
star attraction which is not to be missed. From here
we head north to Fort William. We have time to
explore this popular town before we continue south
alongside Loch Linnhe to Ballachulish and Loch
Leven. Stopping at the Glencoe Visitor Centre, you
can learn all about the feuding clans and infamous
massacre. We return over rugged and awesome
Rannoch Moor to Crianlarich.
DAY 6: Leaving our hotel after breakfast we retrace
our steps into southern Scotland and into Northern
England arriving at our overnight hotel in time for
dinner, bed and breakfast.
DAY 7: Departing after breakfast we continue
our homeward journey to East Anglia by mid
evening, where our door to door service
will be waiting to return you to your home.

Columba Hotel, Oban (4 Nights)
The 3 star standard Columba Hotel stands on the
seafront of the busy town overlooking Oban Bay. All

Oban, Isle of Mull & Ancient Iona
Oban has become one of the major holiday centres in the West Highlands
and the town bustles with life and the harbour is busy with supply boats plying
their way to the islands. We include a ride into the Nevis Mountain Range by
Cable Car and enjoy a day visiting the beautiful islands of Mull and Iona.

DAY 2: We continue into Southern Scotland and
make our way through glorious countryside before
reaching Oban and the Columba Hotel for a stay
of 4 nights.
DAY 3: A free day to relax and explore Oban.
DAY 4: Today we travel by ferry to the magical
Isle of Mull. We travel across the island past Duart
Castle to the most westerly point, Fionnphort.
Here we board the short ferry on foot to the tiny,
enchanting Isle of Iona. Home to the imposing
Iona Abbey, this historic and beautiful island is a
renowned place of pilgrimage, steeped in history
as the birthplace of Christianity in Scotland. Later

we make our way back to the ferry and Oban.
DAY 5: A very scenic tour as we take the road
through the narrow Pass of Brander and wild
Rannoch Moor to descend Glencoe - probably
the most spectacular and infamous glen in Scotland,
setting of the Massacre of 1692 - to reach the shores
of Loch Linnhe and Fort William. North of the town
is the Nevis Mountain Range and we include the
cable car ride up Aonach Mor. At the top there are
tremendous views of Glencoe, Ben Nevis, and on
a clear day the Isle of Skye.
DAY 6: Leaving our hotel after breakfast we retrace
our steps into southern Scotland and into Northern
England arriving at our overnight hotel in time for
dinner, bed and breakfast.
DAY 7: Departing after breakfast we continue
