& the Hollow Mountain<br />

Back by popular demand, we are pleased to repeat this tour based in the village<br />

of Crianlarich in Central Scotland. We feature a journey on the West Highland<br />

Railway Line to Oban, as well as a sightseeing excursion around Perthshire with<br />

a visit to the Glenturret Distillery and the chance to discover one of the hidden<br />

wonders of the Highlands!<br />

DAY 1: Morning collection from home to join our<br />

coach for the drive north arriving at our overnight<br />

hotel in time for evening meal.<br />

DAY 2: We continue into Southern Scotland and make<br />

our way along the shore of Loch Lomond to Crianlarich,<br />

arriving late afternoon for a stay of 4 nights.<br />

DAY 3: This morning we join the Scotrail train at<br />

Crianlarich station for the ride to Oban. The line takes<br />

us through the Pass of Brander and alongside Loch<br />

Etive. In Oban we have time to explore the town. Later<br />

this afternoon we take the train back to Crianlarich.<br />

DAY 4: Today we join a local coach and head along<br />

Glen Dochart to Killin, with the falls of Dochart<br />

rushing through the village. From here we drive along<br />

Loch Tay to Aberfeldy, where we have our lunch break.<br />

Later, we head south along the Sma’ Glen to Crieff<br />

where we include a visit to the Glenturret Distillery,<br />

makers of the Famous Grouse for a tour and a wee<br />

dram. Our return takes us along Loch Earn and Glen<br />

Ogle to Crianlarich.<br />

DAY 5: Today we discover one of the hidden wonders<br />

of the highlands. A power station buried deep under<br />

Ben Cruachan – the hollow mountain. At its centre lies<br />

a massive cavern, high enough to house the Tower of<br />

London. The hollow mountain is unique,<br />

an underground world on a spectacular scale, a five<br />

star attraction which is not to be missed. From here<br />

we head north to Fort William. We have time to<br />

explore this popular town before we continue south<br />

alongside Loch Linnhe to Ballachulish and Loch<br />

Leven. Stopping at the Glencoe Visitor Centre, you<br />

can learn all about the feuding clans and infamous<br />

massacre. We return over rugged and awesome<br />

Rannoch Moor to Crianlarich.<br />

DAY 6: Leaving our hotel after breakfast we retrace<br />

our steps into southern Scotland and into Northern<br />

England arriving at our overnight hotel in time for<br />

dinner, bed and breakfast.<br />

DAY 7: Departing after breakfast we continue<br />

our homeward journey to East Anglia by mid<br />

evening, where our door to door service<br />

will be waiting to return you to your home.<br />

Oban, Isle of Mull & Ancient Iona<br />

Oban has become one of the major holiday centres in the West Highlands<br />

and the town bustles with life and the harbour is busy with supply boats plying<br />

their way to the islands. We include a ride into the Nevis Mountain Range by<br />

Cable Car and enjoy a day visiting the beautiful islands of Mull and Iona.<br />

DAY 4: Today we travel by ferry to the magical<br />

Isle of Mull. We travel across the island past Duart<br />

Castle to the most westerly point, Fionnphort.<br />

Here we board the short ferry on foot to the tiny,<br />

enchanting Isle of Iona. Home to the imposing<br />

Iona Abbey, this historic and beautiful island is a<br />

renowned place of pilgrimage, steeped in history<br />

as the birthplace of Christianity in Scotland. Later<br />

DAY 5: A very scenic tour as we take the road<br />

through the narrow Pass of Brander and wild<br />

Rannoch Moor to descend Glencoe - probably<br />

the most spectacular and infamous glen in Scotland,<br />

setting of the Massacre of 1692 - to reach the shores<br />

of Loch Linnhe and Fort William. North of the town<br />

is the Nevis Mountain Range and we include the<br />

cable car ride up Aonach Mor. At the top there are<br />

tremendous views of Glencoe, Ben Nevis, and on<br />

a clear day the Isle of Skye.<br />
