Scope<br />

The tables give values of design web bearing capacity per unit length (φR by /b b ) and the design web<br />

bearing buckling per unit length (φR bb /b b ) for SHS and RHS for<br />

- interior bearing, and<br />

- end bearing.<br />

Method<br />

The design web bearing capacity (φR b ) has been determined from Clause 5.13 of AS 4100, and taken as<br />

the lesser of:<br />

where φ = 0.9 (Table 3.4 of AS 4100)<br />

φR bb = design web bearing buckling capacity (Clause 5.13.4 of AS 4100)<br />

t = thickness of section<br />

f y = yield stress used in design<br />

Interior bearing for b d > 1.5d 5<br />

b b = b s + 5r ext + d 5<br />

b s = actual length of bearing (see Figure D4.3.2(b))<br />

d 5 = flat width of web (see Figure D4.3.2(a))<br />
