Pedal kart encounter
spurs distributorship
This is a Toy Story with a difference.
A
Kiwi guy, with Dutch
and Croatian ancestry,
a business management
degree from the University of
Waikato and one of the Three
Brothers gold medal winemaking
trio, recently spotted an
ancient pedal kart in a second
hand shop in Thames.
The guy is Adam Nooyen
and he tells the story leading up
to the pedal kart purchase.
“I still had my Christmas
bonus in my pocket and it was
the last day of the holidays so I
thought how much fun the old
kart would be for my nephews
and nieces at the regular family
Sunday lunch gatherings.”
He also had a ‘lightbulb
moment’ spotting a possible
future in making and selling
the toys.
So Adam bought the kart and
while the kids had lots of fun,
he went ahead and investigated
costs of modern production and
decided it wouldn’t work for the
right price.
So like most enterprising
entrepreneurs Adam hit the
web and found a swathe of outdoor
products manufactured in
Holland by the BERG company,
so he flew there and met the
team.
He set up Outdoor Top Toys
New Zealand, offering endless
opportunities for the summer at
campsites, beaches and camping
grounds as well as promoting
outdoor fun for children and
families at home.

pedal kart creator with its
products being used in the recreational
sector all over the globe
providing fun and a unique
experience.

the products, at all levels, are

enables children to play outside
on them safely while having lots
of fun.

“When I introduced myself
to the team at BERG it was
most opportune,” said Adam.

to handle New Zealand and the
Pacific.
“After one year in business
I can claim that no repairs have
had to be made…basically nothing
goes wrong with the karts.”
When asked: “Why on earth
pedal karts?”
Adam smiles and says it’s
watching the enjoyment kids get
and hearing their laughter.
The pedal karts being distributed in New
Zealand by Outdoor Top Toys New Zealand.
“Pedal karting is pure fun
and it captures all age groups
from two to 99 years,” he said.
There is a kart in the range
to suit anyone from one child, to
mum, dad and a couple of kids
and electric pedal assisted karts
for the older folk.
But they can all enjoy the
ride.
The karts come with a two to
five year warranty and there is a
one year warranty on parts.
