their Thanksgiving with family
and friends. As we close out
2015, I want to extend my best
wishes for a happy holiday season
and a healthy and prosperous
New Year. As we roll into the
holidays, there are always some
fun events around town. Snowfest
is December 17 th at Terremar Park.
It is a great event for the kids and
family. On December 12 th at 8pm
at the Equestrian Center, we will again do a “drive- in”
movie. There was a huge turnout over the summer and I
am sure this one will be a success as well.
We recently helped with the grand opening for the new
addition of Pine Trails Park. More improvements are on the
way as we continue to upgrade and enhance our awardwinning
parks.
Our Parkland Dash fun run was again a great success.
Each year this event gets bigger and bigger. The weather
cooperated and we raised a decent amount of money,
which will be distributed to our schools and some local
charities in the area. Thanks to all of our sponsors who
helped make this event a success.
Our award-winning Farmers’ Market is once more up and
running. Again, this year, I am happy to announce the
Farmers’ Market events are being sponsored by Mercantile
Bank. The events take place on the first and third Sunday
of the month, between 9am and 1pm, at the Equestrian
Center. The City posts the signs the week prior, in order
to give everyone notice. Each year the Market gets better
and better with more merchants. Everyone I run into shares
positive comments about the Farmers’ Market. Other cities
are all trying to replicate what we are doing in Parkland – I
take that as a compliment. We are also continuing with our
outdoor concerts in the park and comedy series.
Between the City, our local schools, and charitable
organizations in the area, there are really so many ways
to become part of the community. Please take advantage
of the different offerings by checking the City website
for upcoming dates and events. If you see me out at an
event, please say hello. I love meeting as many Parkland
residents as possible. P
