ACADEMIC PLAN, ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS, AND<br />

FINANCIAL AID:<br />

UNDERGRADUATE: Students already enrolled at the University of<br />

Southern California can major in GeoDesign and minor in Spatial<br />

Studies.<br />

GRADUATE: An online M.S. degree is offered for students<br />

specializing in Geographic Information Science & Technology and<br />

Graduate Certificates are offered for students specializing in<br />

Geographic Information Science & Technology, Geospatial<br />

Leadership, and Geospatial Intelligence. These graduate programs<br />

draw on the experience and expertise of an active research faculty as<br />

well as the resources and opportunities afforded by a major research<br />

university located in a world-class metropolis. The minimum<br />

requirements for admission to the graduate programs are a B.A. or<br />

B.S. degree from an accredited institution and an overall grade point<br />

average of 3.0 or higher for all undergraduate work completed.<br />

Students are admitted to the GIST M.S. degree and three<br />

aforementioned Graduate Certificate programs all three semesters.<br />

Students interested in the M.S. degree in Spatial Informatics (SPIF)<br />

which is offered jointly by the Department of Computer Science and<br />

the Spatial Sciences Institute should apply through the Department of<br />

Computer Science. Students are admitted to the SPIF M.S. degree in<br />

fall and spring semesters. The Spatial Analytics Graduate Certificate<br />

serves students enrolled in a doctoral program at USC and the<br />

Population, Health and Place Ph.D. degree is an interdisciplinary<br />

program offered jointly by the Departments of Preventive Medicine<br />

and Sociology and the Spatial Sciences Institute. This program is<br />

administered by the Spatial Sciences Institute and students apply<br />

before 1 December each year for admission in the following fall<br />

semester.<br />
