Despite their increased experiences of discrimination, the<br />
voices and faces of LGBT older adults are notably absent from<br />
post-marriage public dialogue and awareness-building<br />
campaigns to ban discriminatory practices in employment,<br />
housing and public accommodations. In this session, attendees<br />
will learn about local and national models for centering the<br />
voices of LGBTQ older adults to identify service and policy<br />
gaps and advocacy opportunities.<br />

Since 2014, Chicago Sister Cities International Chicago-Shanghai<br />
Social Service Exchange <strong>Program</strong> has organized yearly<br />
exchanges between these two vibrant cities. Members of the<br />
2015 Chicago delegation will share lessons learned from this<br />
municipality of 24M people, 2.7M age 65+. We’ll show pictures<br />
of housing and social service programs, address the impact of<br />
the One Child Policy and Central Government Planning, and<br />
reflect on the benefits of international idea exchanges.<br />
