interdisciplinary palliative care and hospice teams. Training<br />

strategies and results from the interprofessional Coleman<br />

Palliative Medicine Training program will be provided. Results<br />

from a 2016 study of social workers from Illinois Medicare-certified<br />

hospice programs will address job satisfaction, spiritual<br />

well-being and team regard.<br />

Lifetime Education and Renewal Network (LEARN).<br />

Older adults are craving meaningful lifelong learning opportunities.<br />

Academics and researchers have a plethora of knowledge<br />

that doesn’t always translate well into content that is appropriate<br />

for older adults. This session features a collaboration<br />

between The University of Chicago Department of Astronomy<br />

and Astrophysics; KAVLI Institute, Forward Chicago, Chicago’s<br />

AAA, and a gerontologist who trained the academics on how to<br />

best present to older adults.<br />

Partnerships in a Public Housing Authority<br />

The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) supports senior residents’<br />

efforts to lead healthy lives and age in place. This<br />

workshop will describe a health partnership initiative that<br />

includes an application review process and opportunities to<br />

provide health education and screening services to seniors.<br />

Criteria for approval and examples of health partnership<br />

programming will be provided.<br />

will introduce participants to a free, reliable resource from the<br />

National Endowment for Financial Education: Financial Workshop<br />

Kits. This fraud workshop is designed to help people learn<br />

to recognize various types of fraud, respond to fraud and take<br />

steps to prevent targeted types of fraud.<br />

Reverse Mortgage Myth Busting<br />

Reverse Mortgage myth busters! Reverse mortgages have<br />

changed significantly in recent years. It can be challenging,<br />

even for experts, to keep up with the facts. As the Home Equity<br />

Conversion Mortgage (HECM) program continues to evolve,<br />

many outdated assumptions persist about these unique home<br />

equity loans. This workshop assembles a diverse group of<br />

policy experts to clarify what’s new and true about HECM<br />

reverse mortgages.<br />

among seniors of color, women and LGBT seniors. So what, as<br />

an aging advocacy community, are we doing about it?<br />

Mental Health and Aging Network (MHAN) and<br />

National Council on Mental Health and Aging (NCMHA).<br />

A new federal administration offers new opportunities for<br />

addressing the unmet behavioral health needs of older<br />

Americans. This session will be an interactive panel discussion<br />

with senior executive leadership from federal agencies sharing<br />

their current and planned initiatives to address older adult<br />

behavioral health issues.<br />
