2. Birchetts
Where? Birchetts is situated on a
quiet country lane on the outskirts of
the popular village of Ticehurst, 11
miles from Tunbridge Wells. Stonegate
and Wadhurst stations have regular
services to Charing Cross and the A21/
M25 road and motorway network are
easily accessible. There are interrupted
views to Bewl Water from the garden.
What? A very attractive barn
conversion, the three bedrooms, en suite
shower room and family bathroom are
on the ground floor, which allows the
first floor sitting room to enjoy the full
beamed height of the building. The
kitchen and dining room are adjacent.
There is a study/fourth bedroom on
the second floor. The gardens cover an
acre, with lots of interesting areas for
Easter egg concealing, plus a natural
duck pond with a stream and summer
house which overlooks two ornamental
ponds. (So you would have to keep a
firm eye on small egg hunters…)
How much? Offers in excess of
£745,000. Contact Freeman Foreman,
Tunbridge Wells 01892 640318
or look at freemanforeman.co.uk
3. The Dairy House
Where? The Dairy House sits in
the quiet pretty village of Loose, with
the Loose Stream running through
it, on the rural fringes of Maidstone,
with its rail links. There is a junction
to the M20 15 minutes away.
What? The original building dates to
the 16th century, with the beams to show
for it, with 20th century extensions. The
ground floor has three reception rooms,
plus a workshop and the kitchen. The
bathroom is also on this floor. Upstairs
are three bedrooms, with a walk-in
closet and a further room in the attic.
The house has brilliant potential for
more contemporary room arrangement
without losing any of its charm. Outside
the garden is a delightful mix of superbly
stocked mature borders, lawns, plus
a vegetable patch and mature trees.
How much? The Dairy House is
on the market for £599,000 with Fine
and Country, West Malling. Call 01732
222272 or head to fineandcountry.com
4. Catsfield Place
Where? Catsfield Place is situated at
the end of a long drive, in the unspoiled
countryside to the west of Battle, with
views over the South Downs AONB.
Catsfield village is nearby, with Battle
the nearest town, just two miles away,
with twice hourly trains to London.
What? It would be easier to answer,
what hasn’t it got? Study, sitting room,
two drawing rooms, family room,
computer room, garden room…
Swimming pool, yoga studio, full pubstyle
bar, disco. This house has it all
– encased in a glorious 17th century
manor, where one of Marie Antoinette’s
ladies-in-waiting was sent to hide her
jewels. There are eight bedrooms and at
least four bathrooms. And that’s just the
main house. There are nearly three acres
of grounds, comprising beautiful formal
gardens, with a walled garden full of rose
borders and shrubs, landscaped lawns,
fields and an area of woodland. Plus
various sun terraces and patios. You could
hold several Easter egg hunts at once.
How much? For this extraordinary
house, offers are invited in the area of
£1,825,000. Contact Fine and Country,
Cranbrook on 01580 715000 and
have a look on fineandcountry.com
