John Nowell, O.D., is the owner of Southwest Orlando Eye Care. He is<br />

board-certified and has provided eye care to residents in Orlando since 1991.<br />

Dr. Nowell delivers excellence in eye care and eyewear for all ages. He has<br />

special interest in ocular diseases, challenging contact lens fittings, and ocular<br />

nutrition. The practice uses the latest technology in diagnosing and treating<br />

macular degeneration, glaucoma, dry eyes and diabetic eye problems, as<br />

well as offers myopia control, which are treatments to stop the progression of<br />

myopia. An on-site optical boutique offers more than 1,300 designer frames.<br />

Dr. Nowell is an Orlando native. He attended Auburn University and the<br />

University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry.<br />

Deepak Raja, M.D., received a degree in biomedical and electrical engineering<br />

from Duke University before earning his medical degree at the University<br />

of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He completed his internship at Jackson<br />

Memorial Hospital and his ophthalmology residency at Vanderbilt Eye Institute.<br />

He also completed a cornea and anterior segment fellowship at the University<br />

of Minnesota in Minneapolis and was a clinical instructor at the University of<br />

Alabama at Birmingham for two years. He is board-certified by The American<br />

Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Raja is the current chair of Orlando Health’s<br />

Department of Ophthalmology. His specialties include general ophthalmology,<br />

laser cataract surgery, corneal disorders, glaucoma treatment/management,<br />

and dry eye evaluation/treatment. Dr. Raja is currently accepting new patients.<br />

Hal J. Levine, D.M.D., M.D., was born in Long Island. He received his<br />

Bachelor of Science in microbiology in 1985 and finished dental school in<br />

1989, both at the University of Florida. He practiced general dentistry until he<br />

attended the University of Kentucky, where he received his medical degree in<br />

1996 and his specialty certificate in oral and maxillofacial surgery in 1998.<br />

He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery<br />

and a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.<br />

He has lived in Orlando since 1998 and practices at Oral & Facial Surgery<br />

Center, which has served Central Florida<br />

for more than 25 years.<br />
