CHENNAI SUPER KINGS (2010 & 2011)
One of the most consistent teams,
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are
the only side in IPL to have won
the title for two consecutive years.
MS Dhoni led the team to six finals
in eight seasons. However, due to
controversies, the franchise has
been suspended for two years and
will not appear in IPL 2017.
KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS (2012 & 2014)
Gautam Gambhir’s consistency and
dynamic captaincy helped Kolkata
Knight Riders (KKR) clinch their first
title in 2012, which also stopped CSK
from winning their third consecutive
title. The likes of Andre Russell,
Yousuf Pathan and Sunil Narine
make KKR one of the hot favourites
in IPL every year. Russell’s absence
will be a huge blow to the team in
the upcoming season.
MUMBAI INDIANS (2013 & 2015)
One of the strong sides, Mumbai
Indians won their first title in the
sixth edition of IPL when they
defeated Chennai Super Kings by
23 runs. After losing to CSK in the
finals of IPL 2010, Mumbai Indians
got their own back against CSK
in 2015. Lendl Simmons, Rohit
Sharma, Lasith Malinga and Kieron
Pollard are some of the exciting
and most consistent players for
Mumbai Indians.

VIRAT KOHLI
(ROYAL CHALLENGERS)
India’s Virat Kohli had a fanciful
IPL last year as he scored a record
973 runs in just 16 innings at an
incredible average of 81.08. He
notched four hundreds, which are
the most by any player in a single
season of IPL. With 4,110 runs, Kohli
is the highest run-getter in IPL and
is one of only two players to attain
4,000+ IPL runs. He averages 38.05
at a strike rate of 130.43 which is
remarkable for a T20 league. Kohli
has marked four hundreds and
26 half-centuries with 113 being
his highest score.
MOST WICKETS
LASITH MALINGA (MUMBAI INDIANS)
One of the primary reasons for
Mumbai Indians winning IPL twice is
Lasith Malinga. His nerve-wracking
ability to bowl Yorkers to the best
of batsmen in pressure situations
is beyond belief. He is the most
successful bowler in IPL, and has
thus far picked up 143 wickets in
98 innings at an average of 17.80.
Mumbai Indians uses Malinga wisely
considering his fitness issues. His
darting Yorkers and the varied
slower ones at the death overs are
hard to bat.
MOST SIXES
CHRIS GAYLE
The Caribbean giant Chris Gayle is
the most exciting batsman in this
format. He has clobbered 251 sixes in
91 innings and has scored 3,426 runs
at an average of 43.36. The Royal
Challengers Bengaluru opener leads
the table by a huge distance with
Rohit Sharma in second position
with 163 sixes. Gayle’s unbeaten 175
off 66 balls against Pune Warriors
in 2013 where he smashed 17 sixes
is probably the greatest knock of
Indian Premier League. He holds the
record for the most sixes in a season
with 59 sixes in 2012. Gayle has
scored five hundreds in IPL which is
the most by a batsman. Of his IPL
runs, 43.95 per cent have come in
sixes which is a feat in itself.
