{Say [O Muhammad]: Invoke those you claim [as deities] <strong>be</strong>sides Allah. They do<br />

not possess an a<strong>to</strong>m’s weight [of ability] in the heavens or on the earth, and they do<br />

not have therein any partnership [with Him], nor is there for Him from among them<br />

any assistant.} (Quran 34: 22)<br />

So if these entities {do not possess an a<strong>to</strong>m’s weight [of ability] in the heavens or<br />

on the earth}, how can they help the one who worships them? Moreover, Allah has<br />

pointed out the simple fact that:<br />

{...those you call upon <strong>be</strong>sides Him are unable <strong>to</strong> help you, nor can they help<br />

themselves.} (Quran 7: 197)<br />

Allah, the Most Wise, has not prescri<strong>be</strong>d any religious <strong>be</strong>liefs or rites that would<br />

affect the direct relationship <strong>be</strong>tween Himself and humans, yet religions such as<br />

Hinduism or Buddhism, <strong>be</strong>lief in a human <strong>be</strong>ing as a saviour or an intermediary, and<br />

rites such as baptism and confession have done just that.<br />
