Before addressing these prophecies, readers should consider the following points: Islamic teachings give a criterion according to which portions or passages from the Bible can be either accepted or rejected. This criterion has been described in the following verse of the Quran: {And We have revealed to you [O Muhammad] the book in truth, confirming that which preceded it of the scripture and as a criterion over it...} (Quran 5: 48) This verse emphasizes two main aspects of the Quran: 1) The Quran confirms only those teachings or passages of the previous scriptures which have remained intact. 2) The Quran is the final, complete, authoritative and authentic revelation from Allah. It is the final arbiter and the only criterion to correct any inaccuracy or misinterpretation which might have occurred in the transmission of scriptures throughout the ages. It helps to discover, expose, and disclose human additions or interpolations of previous revelations.
