Kilmacolm Bowling Club<br />

Julia on route to Wimbledon<br />

Strathgryffe player, Julia Smith had a very successful weekend at the<br />

County 14 & u Road to Wimbledon Tennis Finals at David Lloyd, Renfrew<br />

on 3rd/4th June. Julia had qualified for the event by winning the Strathgryffe<br />

14 & u Road to Wimbledon Girls Singles title and went on to represent her<br />

club in the County Finals where she defeated Heather Barlow in the fi nal.<br />

Pictured are the Primary 6’s and 7’s of Kilmacolm Primary School having a<br />

great time at the bowling taster sessions on our green.<br />

The bowling season is now in full swing. Kilmacolm Bowling Club welcomes<br />

new members of all ages, why not pop in and give it a try on Monday or<br />

Thursday evenings for gents @ 7pm or ladies on Tuesdays or Thursdays at<br />

Latest News From Gleddoch<br />

Ladies Golf Club<br />

On May 7th, this year’s Medal Finals was won by Roisin Black. The<br />

following week, the weather took a nasty turn, and the competition had<br />

to be postponed. The weather has been much better since then, and the<br />

competitions have been well supported.<br />

Shirley Back won the silver division in the May medal, and Margaret Adams<br />

won the Bronze.<br />

June Lockhart won the Silver division in the 3rd Round of the Club<br />

Championship, and Sheena Wallace won the Bronze.<br />

Sheena and Roisin Black enjoyed a good day at Largs Golf Club, competing<br />

in the Regional Medal Final West. Sheena especially played very well and<br />

narrowly missed progressing to the national finals.<br />

The West Renfrewshire League match against Kilmacolm took place on a<br />

beautiful evening and was very exciting. The final score was Gleddoch 3½,<br />

Kilmacolm 2½. It was a very friendly match, and the catering deserves a<br />

special mention! Delicious!<br />

The last match was at home against Ralston, and was even closer, ending<br />

3:3.<br />

We are now looking forward to our club knockout competitions. Watch this<br />

space!<br />

Gleddoch Ladies are a friendly bunch and welcome visitors and prospective<br />

Eilidh Lindsay, who was runner up to Julia at Strathgryffe had also been<br />

invited to the County Finals as a lucky loser but was beaten by Heather<br />

in the semi-finals. Julia proved too strong for her opponent and won 4<br />

-1 4-3(4) to take the title. She will now represent West of Scotland at the<br />

HSBC 14 & u Road to Wimbledon National Finals which will be held at<br />

Wimbledon on 14th - 19th August.<br />

Liam O’Brien, who has only just turned eleven, won the Boy’s 14 & u Road<br />

to Wimbledon title at Strathgryffe which also qualified him for the County<br />

Finals. Liam played through to the boy’s final but was beaten by Russell<br />

Dickson 4-0 4-1.<br />
